Your Diabetes News from the CDC

Hey everyone, I hate being the bearer of bad news,
but more staggering health stats from the CDC!

As you all know, diabetes is a serious disease that can often be managed through physical activity, diet, and use of insulin and oral medications to lower blood sugar levels. People with diabetes are at increased risk of additional serious health complications including vision loss, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, amputation of toes, feet or legs, and premature death.

Over 30 million Americans have diabetes. Over 84 million – 1 in 3 – Americans have pre-diabetes! Those are staggering numbers! What is bad is that most of the pre-diabetics do not know they have pre-diabetes….and their uncontrolled blood sugars can progress to full-blown diabetes.

With basic laboratory tests, dietary changes, and lifestyle modifications, you can not only determine if you are in that pre-diabetic group, but you can also make rapid and timely changes to prevent the progression to type II diabetes. If you are a type II diabetic, you have many options for therapeutic lifestyle changes and also medications recommended based on your risk factors, medical history, and your lab results.

Don’t despair!

If you need someone to help you interpret the information, motivate you, and teach you and guide you through safe exercise and “doable” lifestyle changes, I’m your girl.
